Dance Your Way to Health

A study performed by researchers at UC San Diego and San Diego State University found that only 8 percent of children, and six percent of adolescents received the 30 minutes of after-school exercise

recommended by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (http://www.utsandiego.com). The government goes even further and recommends that everyone receives a minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity per day. There are numerous ways to reach this goal and it is doable! One such way to get there is through dance. We suggest checking out your local recreation center or gym for the next Zumba class you can try out. Ballet has even been researched and it was found that it is one of the best types of dance for your entire body. One other suggestion is following a YouTube video or DVD that gets you sweating and your heart rate up. If nothing else works, turn on the radio and just start moving!
